I had a great conversation with Bob today. Bob is a regular customer who owns a very successful business, and he knows marketing. Yes Bob knows!
One of the marketing tools Bob uses is promotional wall calendars. He gives calendars to over a thousand customers every year.
I said Bob, in this digital age why do you still do this? I appreciate the business and all but do you think this type of marketing still works?

Do you know the even in this digital world over 95% of Canadians still use wall calendars at home and the office. As soon as the Labour Day weekend is over my customers start asking for their new calendars.
They are looking at their calendars 7 to 10 times a day. That’s like having them look at my business card that often and all for less than the price of a coffee.
I always will order a variety of themes for my promotional calendars so I have something for all of my customers. For example if I know a customer likes fishing I will give a calendar with a fishing theme or if they are into cars I’ll give them one with a car theme.
My customers never have to look up my phone number they just look at their calendars. The fact that they start asking me for new ones every fall tells me this is a very effective tool and that is why I do it every year.
I also make sure to order early (mid-summer) to ensure my supply, and ordering early also gets me the best price.
